The New England Ophthalmological Society (NEOS) was founded in 1884 by Hasket Derby, Benjamin Joy Jeffries, and Oliver Fairfield Wadsworth for the study and advancement of ophthalmology.Members were graduates of medicine who took a special interest in ophthalmology.
