The collection is composed of the administrative records of the New England Society of Ophthalmology, including correspondence, memoranda, committee minutes, programs, abstracts of papers delivered at meetings, budgets, membership lists, constitution and bylaws. The bulk of the collection is composed of correspondence to and from the Society. Topics include the discussion of agendas and admission of new members. Records document the evolution of the Society, though it contains little information on the progress of ophthalmic science. Though original papers and case studies were discussed at meetings, there is little recording of their contents. There is biographical information related to key figures in the Society, which can be found in the meeting programs. Information on public health can be found in NEOS newsletters located in the correspondence series, and in the folder labelled "Public Health and Information Committee."
